       Featured is a pretty fossil fish.  Related to today’s shad, Diplomystus was likely the primary food source for many of the lake’s predatory fish.  Some Diplomystus fossil specimens are very large, however this 4 inch specimen is just right for a shelf display. 

      This specimen was obtained from an old collection.  I cannot relate the history of this particular piece.

      The pictures illustrate the quality of this piece.
