Featured is a large
enrolled Phacops, free of matrix, from the famous Silica Shale in NW
Ohio. The bug is complete and in very fine condition. The eyes are
magnificently faceted. The bug is oval and very 3D. The shell is fully
present, the only aberration is along the front edge, where the shell
was slightly pushed inward prior to fossilization.
The Silica Shale collecting sites are disappearing, and
these Phacops specimens are becoming very difficult to find today. It
is difficult to find a quality specimen such as this!
This specimen was professionally prepared by Marc Behrendt and has no
restoration to the bug or matrix. This truly is a splendid piece!
The pictures illustrate the quality of this piece.
