This specimen is a
rare Cambrian aged trilobite from Georgia! This species is identified by
the narrowing of the pygidium and by the prominent upturned “lip”. A
second partial is also present on the matrix.
The Conasauga Shale is found from Georgia into
Tennessee and Alabama. Its age is comparable to the Wheeler Shale in
Utah. Exposures are uncommon, and fossils are sporadic. This specimen
was collected during a research dig a few years ago.
The specimen was professionally prepared by Marc Behrendt and has no
restoration to the crinoid or matrix.
The pictures illustrate the quality of this piece.
