Featured is a beautiful, prone, 3D Devonian trilobite, Odontochile
syncramma, collected from the famous Bois d’Arc Formation in Clarita,
Oklahoma. This dalmanitid’s faceted eyes are nicely preserved. There
is a brachiopod at the trilobite’s nose.
The specimen is complete. The genal spines and the
cephalic processes are present. The pygidial spine is absent. The
thorax very slightly separated from the pygidium prior to fossilization.
When the specimen was collected, the rock cross-sectioned the trilobite,
which can be seen by the line running through the bug. This is an
excellent representative of an uncommon species.
This specimen was obtained from an old collection. I
reprepped the specimen to clean out the grooves and smooth out the
matrix. This is a very fine piece!
The pictures illustrate the quality of this piece.
