Featured is a beautiful, prone,
3D Devonian trilobite, Kainops raymondi. This large-eye form’s
faceted eyes are nicely preserved. Along with the bug, there is a
gastropod and brachiopod nearby.
Preservation is quite interesting. The glabella and
pygidial axis show a little bit of weathering, as do the very top of the
gastropod and brachiopod. Whatever happened, it happened to all the
specimens at the same time!
This specimen was professionally prepared by Marc
Behrendt and has no restoration to the bug or matrix. This is a very
fine piece!
The pictures illustrate the quality of this piece.
